His Majesty's Gun Control Plan

Everything you need to know about what the President signed today.

I am sitting here with the twenty three (23) orders (paraphrased) signed by the Anointed One today which outline his gun grab plans, printed out and in front of me.  Please allow me to present them here and post my replies to each one.  Each Royal Decree is in Black type.  My response is in Red.

The following is a list, provided by the White House, of executive actions President Obama plans to take to address gun violence.

1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
If you know Federal government, you know they will not share information.  Remember    9/11?

2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
The same people who want this to happen will file hundreds of lawsuits to prevent this from happening, and cite HIPPA when they sue.

3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
    Bribes

4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
I think the categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun have been thoroughly delineated in Federal and State Uniform Firearms Acts.

5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
I don't know how other agencies work, but MY department ALWAYS conducted background checks before returning seized firearms.

6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
Duh, If you are a federally licensed gun dealer you run fucking background checks all the time.  It's part of being a federally licensed gun dealer.

7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
The NRA has been doing this for decades.  That is one of their core functions.  Why do we need to spend taxpayer funds for this?

8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
Do they lock?  OK.  Now the government will commission a panel and spend $9,372,836.98 to determine that locks only keep honest people from accessing what's locked up.

9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
Did you notice this only applies to Federal law enforcement?  LOCAL law enforcement encounters a helluva lot more guns during criminal investigations.

10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
And this will accomplish what?  NCIC shows if guns are reported stolen or not.

11. Nominate an ATF director.
     Yawn

12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
I remember teaching this when I was a MPOETC Instructor and I'm retired 10 years.  Pennsylvania incorporated this into its mandatory in service training right after Columbine.

13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
No shit Sherlock.  Maybe if prosecutors didn't plea bargain shit away we'd have more bad guys behind bars.

14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
Another waste of taxpayer dollars.  There is enough research already out there showing the causes of gun violence.  Can you say drugs?  Can you say gangs?

15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.
The best safety device for any gun is the brain of the user.

16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
IF your doctor asks if you have guns in your home, the answer is always an affirmative NO.  It's none of their fucking business, but is IS a way for the government to track guns.

17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
See #2.  Although it's a good idea, I doubt many health care providers will report anything.

18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
This has been happening since Bill Clinton was president.  I seem to remember hiring a number of officers to be School Resource Officers, and I am retired 10 years.  Have I mentioned that I am retired for 10 years before?

19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
See #12.  It is highly adaptable.

20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
What the hell does this have to do with firearms?

21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
Another "We have to pass this bill to find out what's in it" example.  Again, this has nothing to do with firearms.

22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
Wonder if this will apply to Congress?

23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.
     See #22

The bottom line is that nothing His Majesty signed today will prevent even one illegal act committed by a criminal with a gun.
